As all of Bollywood waits with bated breath to see if they can still cash in on the Madhuri Dixit magic, the ex-diva seems to be holding back.
Bollywood pundits predict that Aaja Nachle is no yardstick of whether or not Madhuri can still pull in the crowds. This was amply proved by the hordes of fans that appeared to fill the stadiums on the TV reality shows that Madhuri recently lent her name to.
But Madhuri, who was supposed to return to Mumbai for her next assignment – for old friend and director Indra Kumar’s film – seems to have postponed her trip. Indra Kumar was all set to launch his daughter alongside Madhuri but the actress is dilly-dallying with her dates.
There are certainly no shortage of takers for Mrs Nene! Sooraj Barjatya (an old friend of Madhuri) is keen on casting her in a film with Salman Khan.
Bollywood bigwigs speculate that she should not have chosen YashRaj Films for her comeback vehicle as Aaja Nachle had a weak script.
Of late, YashRaj is being pulled up for poor scripting. The odd Chak De! India can’t speak for their overall box-office performance.
Had Madhuri instead chosen Indra Kumar – with whom she gave some of the biggest hits in Bollywood – perhaps he could have done her justice.
Or even Sooraj Barjatya for that matter, since he also knows what makes Madhuri tick on screen!
